HERE IS A REPRESENTATION of all the satellites and small objects in orbit around Earth. There are tens of thousands of them. Some of them are moving 14,000 to 19,000 miles per hour. This makes it very dangerous to go into space or come from the outside, entering Earth orbit, without having a far reaching shield or a warning system. NASA and the Russians built a radar system where they are tracking most of them.
